We desired to produce a wedding styled shoot concept that would be appealing to both the groom and the bride – combining masculine and feminine / hard and soft elements – hence the birth of our theme “Delicately Industrial”. This theme would be suitable for a laid-back couple with rustic taste; wanting a casual yet sophisticated tailor-made experience. As a foundation for the look we worked with hard industrial building materials like slate, marble, agate, raw wood, cement, steel, wire, mirror and oil drums and softened these elements with white florals, berries, foliage, linen, delicate, glassware, ribbon and lace. This look requires layering of texture and relies on the character and beauty of imperfections. It is an uncluttered simple look; achieved through careful selection and placement of items; so as to facilitate easy flow and conversation, but still maintains that wow factor through strong structured focal features and attention to quality details.

Florals:
Carefully selected florals are key to finishing off any styled look. We worked with hard and soft / fresh and dry textures to bring the contrasting / yet complimentary theme into the floral details. Soft white blooms – orchids, garden roses & hydrangea. Foliage – Dry fynbos, staghorn ferns, air plants, succulents, penny-gum, long leaf blue-gum, peppercorn leaves, pampas grass. Something Blue – Sea Holly and blue sprayed berries.

The Ceremony Area:
We decorated the striking open-air framed chapel structure with florals, foliage and textured hurricanes. We created focal features using steel frame marble top plinths decorated with staghorn ferns with berries, hexagonal marble stools and oil drums filled with pampas grass. For the guest seating we selected grey bucket Eames replica style chairs with mid-century wooden peg-legs.

The Banquet Table:
As our base we used a concrete wash banquet table with steel frame legs and the same grey bucket Eames style chairs. To add height and drama we spanned a raw wood and steel industrial pergola arch over the table with suspended crochet wire lighting pendants lit up with raw filament lightbulbs and decorated the corner with a floral / foliage garland installation. For the place-setting details we first placed slate placemats down then placed a bespoke cast concrete lace embossed layer. We manufactured bespoke paint splatter / ombre linen dip napkins, gold and white designer cutlery and gold rim wine and champagne glasses. We also manufactured a bespoke mirror centre-piece raiser / runner with a distressed antique lace paint effect. We casually scattered an assortment of eclectic textured white, gold and marble cinch waist vases, hurricane lanterns and mercury glass candle votives.

The Stationery:
This gorgeous set of bespoke wedding stationery is delicately raw – a sophisticated combining materials using natural and man-made workmanship. The stationery looks crafted, hand-made and imperfect but is perfectly design to compliment the decor styling. Hand-painted marble textures were incorporated into the invitation design. The frosted translucency of the envelopes peaks interest and adds a soft touch to the rawness of the other elements. Metallics were  introduced through gold-leafing detailing on the deckled edges of the handmade paper. Subtle soft greys were worked in through typography, the ombre stained paper, and the grey tone of the textured silk ribbons adds delicacy to the design. Black metal eyelets in the corners of elements on the name tags and menus finish off this industrial look.

The cake:
Picking up on the textures used in the décor styling we decided on a 3-tier cake with grey marbled fondant, gold veining and fresh orchids and greenery displayed on raw wood stumps. The area was decorated with textured hurricanes, floral stems and foliage to compliment the overall look and feel.
